Beginning in 2012, the Hoyt Lakes Water Carnival Committee raised event admission by two dollars. This was not done to raise money just for Water Carnival weekend, but for community pride. The $2 increase has been saved with the intent to contribute a small part to a new, bigger and better community shelter and midway for the City of Hoyt Lakes. Along with a better Community Shelter, there will be a lot more improvements to the whole area from the tennis courts to the beach. More parking places, underground electrical, amphitheater/stage, park benches, new bathrooms, an outlook deck for the beautiful new view of Colby Lake from the midway area. And a lot more!
We have saved $36,062 since then to donate to this beautiful Community Park and are excited to say that beginning in 2016, the City of Hoyt Lakes has established a committee of city officials, community volunteers and members of the ERJPB along with the help of a local architect to make this project come alive. The committee’s goal is that this Park will be used by the citizens and visitors of Hoyt Lakes in all aspects of community living. School plays, graduation parties, weddings, class reunions, Water Carnival, music in the park, simple family picnics. The list is endless for the events the committee hopes this park can be used for! In the coming months, we plan to have some exciting progress to share on what we hope to be a beautiful facelift to our community.
